Gary Barbera to Speak at St. Mary’s Villa 8th Grade Commencement
Gary Barbera, founder of Barbera’s Autoland, and a prominent figure in Philadelphia and the surrounding area, prides himself on being able to give back to the community. In addition to working with various charities through his Gary Barbera Cares organization, Gary himself enjoys volunteering, and doing his part to help families and children in need get vital services and opportunities to improve their lives. It is for his community outreach efforts that Mr. Barbera was invited to speak to the children of St. Mary’s Villa by Ms. Edie Simpson.
Mr. Barbera was chosen to receive the honor of speaking at St. Mary’s Villa’s 8th grade commencement to say a few motivational words. The students at St. Mary’s Villa, which started as an orphanage for boys in 1911, have suffered injustices throughout their lives. These have occurred at the hands of others, including family members, and Mr. Barbera was asked to speak to the group about overcoming adversity when odds are stacked against you so that the students may continue on their paths to success.
Mr. Barbera and Gary Barbera Cares seeks opportunities to assist disadvantaged youth and families in Philadelphia and in the surrounding community. When asked about St. Mary’s Villa and Ms. Simpson, Mr. Barbera had this to say: “Ms. Simpson spear-heads grassroots organizations and dedicates her life to volunteerism around Philadelphia. She is an unsung hero.” You can learn more about Gary Barbera and the Gary Barbera Cares program by visiting the group’s website or by calling them directly at (610) 525-7827.
