Gary Barbera Sponsors Peter’s Place with Hole-in-One Charity
Gary Barbera, known throughout Philadelphia and surrounding communities as a dedicated philanthropist and the man behind Barbera’s Autoland, teamed up with Peter’s Place to help grieving children in the area. A noted auto dealer for more than 30 years, Mr. Barbera is also committed to helping families and children in need through the Gary Barbera Cares program. To help raise awareness of the programs offered by Peter’s Place, and increase financial support and contributions, Mr. Barbera sponsored a Hole-in-One Challenge at the Kel-Moga Golf Tournament in 2014.
The Kel-Moga Golf Tournament celebrates the memories of John “Kel” Kelly Jr. and Michael “Moga” Zadroga, and was first held in 2005. More than 100 golfers were expected for the 2014 event, which was held at the Linfield National Golf Club in Linfield. After learning about the tournament, Mr. Barbara committed to providing a new car to any golfer who made a hole-in-one on a specified hole during the event.
“When I heard about this golf outing, I knew I wanted to help. The Kelly family’s commitment and the work Peter’s Place does for grieving kids and families in our community – that is exactly what the Barbera Cares Program is all about. We are excited to contribute to the Kel-Moga Golf Tournament and to make a difference for grieving children in our community,” said Mr. Barbera.
Peter’s Place does not charge families for its services and relies on donations and community support. In 2014, Peter’s Place programs served more than 500 children, caregivers, and young adults. In an effort to strengthen ties to the Philadelphia community and surrounding area, Mr. Barbera is proud to support local charities and fundraisers each year.
